World Book Day 2.3.23
One of our winners from last year's Character Costume Parade competition.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2023 is here. On Thursday the 2nd of March, dress up as your favourite book character and help us raise money so that every child can have a book of their own! A donation of £1 helps the charity 'World Book Day' get book tokens and books to children across the UK and Ireland.
For 1 in 5 children receiving free school meals the World Book Day £1 book is the first they have had of their own. (2021 National Literacy Trust Annual Literacy Survey)
You don't need to wait for world book day you can donate now on our Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rednoseday23-whitehall-nursery-and-infant-school We would love to reach our target of £250.

To keep our brilliant book day buzzing we also have a fantastic Character Costume Parade that is open to all children in School. If you want to enter your child you must make or assemble their costume at home (no shop bought costumes).
All homemade costumes will them be entered in the cat walk competition to win book vouchers that can be used to buy wonderful new books! If you don't have time to make a costume then just dress them up in a store bought one or put on some dressing up superheroes or princess costumes that you have lying around the house, and let them join in the dressing up fun.
Below are some examples of homemade costumes from last year.
