Visiting Author

Year 1 have been learning about the 5 Ks as part of their unit of work on Sikhi.

The Author, Ms Kaur, came in to share her story 'Is that Paras' Kara?' and discuss with the children the importance of the Kara and why it is worn.

The children took part in a fun and engaging workshop where they sorted jewellery into different categories and learnt why they would be worn by Sikhs. They then discussed with a puppet how the Kara helps to remind Sikhs to make good choices and finally listened to the story being read by the author - which is always a rare treat.

This is what she said about her visit:

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for inviting me to your school today.

It was such a pleasure to meet everyone—the staff, children, and management were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and supportive.

I truly appreciate the efforts made to accommodate my needs on the day, and I hope the children enjoyed the session as much as I did.
